5 Points Church Family,

Let this be our Guidelines and Call to our mission in this time.

Jesus said: “I am with you every day” (Matthew 28:20, Passion Translation).

In the midst of uncertain moments, it is so good to know there are certainties in life we can count on. Jesus’ promise to be present with us in every single moment, in all that life throws at us, allows us to face life with uncommon confidence knowing He is available to guide and direct us in everything we face.

I want to assure you of our commitment to creating safe, engaging spaces where people connect to God, to each other, and to their purpose. We know there are many questions and concerns surrounding COVID-19 (Coronavirus), and I want you to know the ways we’re addressing these.

Our church is following the guidelines provided by the
Centers for Disease Control and the World Health Organization. Best practices for dealing with viruses like the seasonal flu and COVID-19 include regular hand washing, using hand sanitizer, and choosing to remain home if you are not feeling well, have any flu-like symptoms including coughing and sneezing, and certainly if you have a temperature. We have consistently practiced these and will continue to do so.

Here are other specifics on how we are actively making our spaces ready:

  • Continuing our practice of regularly sanitizing our spaces between weekend gatherings.

  • Currently completing a deeper disinfectant cleaning in our kids' spaces and coffee areas.

  • Providing additional hand sanitizer stations and tissue boxes in high-traffic areas in each of our network spaces.

  • Greeters and ushers will continue offering you a warm welcome on weekends; they will offer “air fives” and elbow bumps, but won’t be initiating handshakes, high-fives, and hugs.

    We invite you to:

  • If you are sick, please stay home, rest, and recover.

  • Let us know how we can assist you may personally, professionally or relationally navigate the effects of COVID-19.

  • Be sure to stay connected by watching the weekly message online.

  • Pray--reflect on this encouragement found in the Scriptures: God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline (2 Timothy 1:7, NLT). There is great opportunity for us as the people of Jesus to choose the way of power, love, and self-control at a time when so many are tempted to live out of fear. Pray for our families, our church body, our cities, and our world—join us in asking that God would breathe his Spirit out on us and draw us all into the fullness of life he has for us. May we have courage to point people to Jesus as the ultimate answer for their fear and worry and be a church that models Hope in the Darkness always!

  • Share with your family, friend, neighbor, or stranger let Gods Generosity shine through us!

  • Mobilize prayer for you and others! Let us pray that God will guide us personally, professionally, and relationally as we navigate the effects of COVID-19.

  • Use our prayer request link

Best Practices we can follow in this time

If you have not already done so, we highly recommend that you visit the Centers for Disease Control website for insights into “best practices” for combating flu-type viruses, including the coronavirus.

Concerning taking an offering, during this season in church we will have an offering station available in the back of the sanctuary. This is a great time to engage in our online giving opportunity the link is you may also download it in the app store. If you have any difficulties contact us we can help.

As it pertains to human contact, our encouragement to you is to curtail handshaking and hugs during this time and replace them with fun alternatives from elbow bumps to “air-high-fives.”

As it pertains to communion, when we partake in it we will be distributing pre-packaged communion cups and bread.

Obviously if people are not feeling well, have any flu-like symptoms including coughing and sneezing, and certainly if they have a temperature, that would be an indication that they should stay home and worship in that context.

    A Shepherd’s Heart

As your pastor I feel lead to say, we have the opportunity to ask the Holy Spirit, “How might you want to use our church in times such as these? How can we be Your agents of hope, bringing a spirit of calmness and peace to those who might be filled with anxiety about what is going on around them?”

Situations like this give us an incredible opportunity to shepherd the hearts of those who may be significantly concerned or who, sadly, live much of their lives in fear. We have dear people in our congregations who spend so much of their mental energy living in fear (totally apart from the present COVID-19 situation). This is a wonderful opportunity to minister to them and to help them recognize that our great and powerful God deeply desires to rid our lives of fear (perfect love casts out all fear – 1 John 4:18).

We are encouraged to live with wisdom, but not with a controlling element of fear in our lives. God invites us into a life of full freedom and trust!

Let the Word of God be our guide!

Then He said to them: “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. 11 There will be great earthquakes, famines and pestilences in various places, and fearful events and great signs from heaven… But make up your mind not to worry beforehand how you will defend yourselves. 15 For I will give you words and wisdom that none of your adversaries will be able to resist or contradict.” Luke 21:10-11, 14-15

As we see our communities experiencing growing anxieties about the COVID-19 situation, may we be people of faith, courage, and peace. Please take captive those thoughts of fear and remember Psalm 91:6 says, "we will not fear the pestilence." We remember from the Bible the Lord said this is normal for our times, and

This will be our opportunity to bear witness for Him.
